Kansas City, Missouri
2013 was another banner, evolutionary year for Kansas City, as it continues to gain momentum as one of America’s best places to live, work and grow. From a business perspective, the Kansas City Chamber has committed to making Kansas City “America’s most entrepreneurial city”; and having the mayor and the city support us as a Code for America city echoes the effort. We ranked high in the Forbes 2013 list for Best Places for Business and Careers. And adding to the national and international spotlight on our city is our sports organizations that continue to rally the community. The city relaunched their brand this year making their new logo open-source – reinforcing the community support for innovative approaches and new ideas. The Chiefs made the playoffs and Sporting KC won it all in the coldest MLS Championship game ever. Just a year after hosting the All–Star Game in 2012, Kansas City hosted the World Cup qualifying match where the U.S. shut out Jamaica 2–0. A growing Arts District, a hotbed for technology startups (with nods to Google Fiber), unmatched history of philanthropy make this THE city that is on THE trajectory of a model American city.
